We dare to push the boundaries of community theatre.

We believe in challenging the status quo—redefining what’s possible through innovation, bold creativity, and a can-do spirit that turns dreams into reality.

We believe in the magic of transformation, where every idea nurtured, every risk embraced, and every challenge tackled breathes new life into our productions.

We believe that theatre is not just performance—it’s a movement. A collective force powered by dedication, passion, and the unwavering belief that when we come together, we create something far greater than ourselves.

We believe that unity, commitment, and relentless hard work forge deep bonds that strengthen us. We thrive in a whānau-centered, collaborative environment, where everyone contributes, and every voice matters.

We don’t just make theatre—we create unforgettable moments. We invite you to be part of the journey.

Your Audition!

We want you to give your best and show us your passion for being part of this show.

Preparation

  • Song Choice: Pick a song that suits your voice and showcases your skills. Please prepare a song that is similar to those in the show, if you are auditioning for a particular role, please also prepare a song for that part from the show.  You can google choices if you need some inspiration.
  • Acting Through Song: Musical theatre is about storytelling—don’t just sing, perform! Know who your character is, their emotions, and why they're singing.
  • Memorisation: Be fully confident with lyrics, know your song and either bring the sheet music with you or a backing track link.

Performance

  • Warm Up: Vocal and physical warm-ups are essential. Stretch, breathe, and do some vocal exercises before you start.
  • Confidence & Energy: Walk in like you belong there. You might be nervous, but let excitement fuel your performance.
  • Connection: Engage with the audition panel as though they are an audience.

If you cannot make the audition dates for any reason, we will be accepting video recorded auditions up the audition date.  For more information on how to do this please contact either our Production Manager or Director Graham at graham@amdramwhanganui.co.nz
